Music icon Cher has swiftly put to rest the circulating rumors that she orchestrated the kidnapping of her 47-year-old son, Elijah Blue Allman, from a New York City hotel room. The 77-year-old ‘Believe’ singer dismissed the allegations during an interview with People Magazine, affirming that they were unfounded.

Last month, these accusations came into light as part of the ongoing divorce proceedings between Elijah and his estranged wife, Marie King. According to King, one of the four men involved in the alleged abduction in November 2022 claimed to have been hired by Cher. The incident purportedly took place on the couple’s wedding anniversary when they were attempting to mend their relationship.

However, Cher attributed this unfortunate episode to her son’s struggles with addiction. She expressed her concerns as a mother for her children’s well-being and shared her constant endeavor to help them. “I’m not suffering from any problem that millions of people in the United States aren’t,” she stated. “This is my job – one way or another, to try to help my children…because that’s what being a mother is.”

Cher continued by acknowledging that despite the difficulties parenthood may bring, it also fills her life with joy and love for her children.

Elijah’s father was Greg Allman of The Allman Brothers Band, to whom Cher was married from 1975 until their divorce in 1979. In addition to Elijah, Cher is also mother to Chaz Bono, her 54-year-old son from her first marriage with Sonny Bono.
